Under One Roof by Max Sansing was created for the Chicago Public Library – Uptown Branch. The Uptown neighborhood encapsulates the unifying feeling and power music has on all people irrespective of race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation or gender. The artwork depicts diversity of the community with the LGBTQ rainbow of euphoria waves in the air. Sansing provides a visual representation of what House music feels like while listening. The History of House music which Sansing so beautifully displays, is a history of acceptance within marginalized communities creating a space for self-expression for all people. The Chicago Public Library – Uptown Branch is located across the street from the original Gherkin Records label. This mural was funded by DCASE as part of a series celebrating the 40th anniversary of House music.
